In the January of 2015 in Fort Worth, TX, a passionate Simulation Technician at a Community College reached out to an IT Director of a University simulation center and a Simulation Specialist at a Fort Worth Hospital to share ideas on how to improve their healthcare simulation programs and operations. After some initial phone/ e-mail discussions and combining DFW simulation network contacts, a meeting was planned and held at Texas Christian University in April of 2015. Quickly after, a Fall meeting followed and then a Winter meeting. Over 2 years, the three founding members grew to five organizers and a network contact list of 100+ members in the DFW area.
In the summer of 2017, at North Central Texas College, the first SPOT mini conference took place showcasing research, strategies for debriefing, the SIMS student simulation group, and many other topics. Our conferences following in 2018 drew simulation professionals to the DFW area as far away as McAllen Texas and San Antonio. All conferences and events to date have been free of charge, thanks to our generous simulation vendor sponsors and host sites.
SPOT aims to include all major regions of Texas- North, Central, South, Southwest, East and West and all specialties of healthcare. We want our “SPOT” on the map!
SPOT meets every quarter. Check out our exciting events!
